Welcome to the origin of The Blanket Project. Probably you already know about this initiative and you may even have crocheted your own blanket, but... how did all this started, do you know it? Well, the origin is actually in the blanket that you see on the picture above. I started it in december 2011 and... there it is... still unfinished, always under construction. And, you know what? I HAD ENOUGH!

Bienvenidas al origen del Proyecto Colcha. Sois muchas ya las que os habéis sumado a esta iniciativa y os habéis hecho vuestra colcha, pero.. cómo empezó todo, lo sabéis? Pues el origen está en esta manta que veis en la foto. La empecé en diciembre del 2011 y ahí sigue... inacabada, siempre en construcción. Y sabéis qué? QUE SE ACABÓ!

From then, I use to share my progress (not too much progress though) on instagram and facebook, that's how I know that you guys really love the blanket and would like to have the pattern and some directions. Unfortunately there's no such thing as a "pattern", because I've just been using patterns that I've found in books or blogs, and regarding to the materials I've used leftovers mostly.
But since I really want to finish it and I know that you really want to make your own version, I'm going to share with you all the info that I'm able to compile. My challenge is to finish it by March 2017, so... MARCH 2017... there I go!
Desde entonces comparto mis avances (pocos, la verdad) en instagram y facebook, por lo que me consta que la colcha os ha gustado mucho, incluso me soléis pedir los patrones y todo tipo de indicación. No hay un patrón concreto para esta colcha, son aplicaciones que encuentro en libros y en internet. En cuanto a los materiales, he ido usando restos de ovillos y he perdido la pista de algunos de ellos, pero muchos otros sí que los tengo controlados.
Por todo esto, quiero aprovechar este arranque que me ha entrado de terminar la colcha para compartir con vosotras toda la información que recuerde para que os podáis hacer vuestra propia versión. Mi reto es terminarla en marzo, que es cuando empezaron las clases del Proyecto Colcha original. Así que MARZO 2017... allá vamos!

- There are neither patterns nor deadlines (except mine), I'll just be sharing each and everyone of the granny squares of my blanket, and I'll tell you where did I get the pattern and some other thing.
- I'll tell you the materials I've used, but as usual, you can make your own version.
- You can join our facebook group and share your progress with the community.
MATERIALS
- Hook: I'm using a 2 mm hook. The blocks are small and tight, because this is the effect that I was looking for since it's going to be a very big blanket, for a king size bed, with lining and maybe even batting. You can adapt it to the size you like the most and use another hook if you like to.
- Yarn: some of the skeins that I've used are leftovers mixing brands and materials. But a big part of them are Pradera by Lanas Stop. I can't tell you the exact amount of skeins I've used, I¡m sorry, impossible to keep the track of this, but it'll depend on the variety od colours, size, gauge and hook that you decide to use.
- Colors: Again, I suggest you to do your own research and try colors that you like, but in case that you want to use the same colors I've used, they've been dozens, but always with this retro feeling, soft and "dirty" colors (except for one or two that look lighter, to make contrast. I'm not using a closed pallete but some colors are totally out of the game: yellow, orange and purple (except in one block that I use lavender for a row... sorry for that) If you are using Pradera, these are some of the color that I remember I've used: 067, 416, 701, 700, 483, 624, 329, 441, 411, 702, 103, 101, 438, 404, 385, 324, 321, 732, 706.
Y CÓMO FUNCIONA ESTO? Pues muy fácil
- No hay plazos (excepto el mío) ni patrones, simplemente os iré enseñando todos y cada uno de los cuadrados de la colcha y os diré de dónde lo he sacado y alguna otra cosa que se me ocurra.
- Te indicaré los materiales que he usado, pero como siempre tú podrás hacer tu versión como más te guste.
- Puedes entrar en el grupo de facebook para compartir tu avance con todas las compañeras.
MATERIALES:
- Aguja: Yo estoy usando una aguja de 2,00 mm. Las aplicaciones quedan muy pequeñas, tupidas, y rígidas, que es como yo las quería para este proyecto. Se trata de una colcha para una cama de matrimonio a la que, además, voy a ponerle forro y puede que un relleno, por lo que es un proyecto serio! Tú puedes adaptarla al tamaño que quieras y usar la aguja que más te apetezca.
- Lanas: Algunos de los ovillos que he usado son restos de aquí y de allá, mezcla heterogénea de materiales y marcas. Pero la gran mayoría son Pradera de Lanas Stop. Son las lanas que vendían en el mercadillo de mi pueblo y además también las vendíamos en la tienda. Es acrílico total, aunque de un tacto suave y una carta de colores muy amplia y acertada. No os puedo decir la cantidad de ovillos porque no la tengo controlada y además dependerá de cómo os hagáis vuestra colcha, pero vamos... imaginad que son bastantes....
- Colores: De nuevo, os invito a que investiguéis y experimentéis con vuestras propias paletas, pero para aquellas que me preguntáis por los que he usado yo, os voy a decir los que recuerdo de Pradera, pero así en líneas generales os comento que he buscado colores un tanto apagados (excepto un par para contrastar), con cierto aire retro (colores viejunos, como me dijo mi amiga Carmen). Voy añadiendo colores si tengo un ovillo por ahí que me cuadra, pero tiene que entrar en armonía con el resto. En toda la colcha no encontraréis ni amarillo, ni naranja, ni lila (salvo en una excepción). Estos son los colores de Pradera que he usado: 067, 416, 701, 700, 483, 624, 329, 441, 411, 702, 103, 101, 438, 404, 385, 324, 321, 732, 706.
